The hardest thing about being an adult

Sure, paying bills and getting the car serviced are both right up there but for us, the worst thing about being an adult is deciding what to have for dinner. Every night! Like a responsible um, adult. Especially when you’ve been doing it for everyone for 25 years.

We don’t mind the cooking bit, in fact, with a glass of wine in hand and our favourite playlist turned up loud, cooking is pretty fun. But getting to the cooking bit? Not fun. Every day our Facebook feed is full of easy dinners that apparently only take 63 seconds to make (if you believe all those videos) and there’s no shortage of recipes when we Google easy dinners but making a decision between One Pot Beef Chilli, Malaysian Chicken Laksa and 47 other things is hard. Also, if you’ve been doing it for a while (and by it, we mean cooking dinner), you’ve probably lost interest in trying something and are pretty comfy in “it’s Tuesday, it must be lamb chops night” territory.

Don’t worry, it’s not just you. This feeling of dread as the dinner hour approaches is backed by science, well, research. In his well-known work, psychologist Barry Schwartz, calls this choice paralysis.  He argues that more choices make us less likely to take action, and to be less satisfied with our eventual decision. With so many great options, we can only blame ourselves if we’re not meeting our own standards, and we engage in frequent regret about the roads (and recipes) not taken.

Faced with a Facebook feed and Google machine (not to mention cookbooks) full of recipes we can feel overwhelmed and the thought of choosing something to cook for dinner tonight becomes an insurmountable task. We go to our default meal of grilled chicken with salad or a pasta bake and feel as though we are a little inadequate as a result.

Not. Any. More.

Pepper Leaf makes the tough decisions for you and, even better, gets all the ingredients together as well and delivers them to your door. All you have to do is the fun bit cooking! And then the even more fun bit eating a delicious dinner that required practically no effort from you at all.

The only tough decision you’ll need to make tonight is what to watch on TV the complete series of The Night Of or a RHONYC marathon?

I’ve been getting pepper leaf now for about 3-4 weeks. I was trialling two companies and pepper leaf beat the other company hands down! Their customer service is the amazing and they’re always happy to help with anything I need! My partner and I work until 5 so it makes it much easier coming home and having all the fresh ingredients and recipes ready to go!

Outstanding quality and great choices available at Pepperleaf. Agree with others that customer service is outstanding - emailed once and received a reply within 1 minute that I could tell wasn’t automated (this was at 9pm!!) if it stays this way we will be very happy long term customers. Also have tried other meal deliveries but they don’t compare.

Great quality food. We were recommended from some food snob friends who use Pepper Leaf and after 3 weeks, we are very happy.
